I haven’t posted recently because life has been a little busy. Here’s the update.

After LazyGal wrote about getting a new TV last year, the idea has been floating in my head. I become more serious when a white line took up permanent residence on the screen, right at the top of where the letterbox format displays. I looked at reviews online and made several trips to look at actual TVs to compare the quality of displays. I’d decided on a 26 inch TV because, apparently, they are digital-ready for the change over that is coming in a couple of years. And I wanted not only a flat-screen but also a flat-panel version. When my tax return came, I was prepared to buy. About that time, a friend decided he wanted to sell his huge, 37-inch LG. He only had it two years, but he wanted to hook up a computer to the TV, and he didn’t like the way the screen was distorting the display.

To keep this long story from getting even longer, I now own a new flat-screen monstrosity. It is too big for my original TV stand, so I bought a new one at K-mart, which I love. Because the TV is high-def, I decided to upgrade my cable (from $14/month basic to $70/month - with HD because I have to include all these other unwanted packages). The cable company is coming today to do the upgrades, which includes a DVR. I’m caught between being excited and being overwhelmed.

Easter dinner went well - only one overcooked pan of crescent rolls. I’m glad I don’t cook like that on a regular basis, but it made for a fun change. With all the activity, I didn’t get my traditional reading of Wallace Stevens’ “Sunday Morning” done.

Work has become fun again, now that I’ve adjusted to being out from under two years of pressure. I’m directing photo shoots of some really personable students. It is always nice to get out of the office during the spring, and I have a good time working with the photographer.

Some fun social things as well. I just have time to visit with people. Tonight I’m going to see Pan’s Labyrinth. If it is as good as I’ve heard, I may end up watching it again tomorrow night as well.

I’m also reading the Romantic Poets. At the moment I’m working through all of Keats’s poems; I figured I’d start with my favorite poet. He wrote most of his poems during a two year period.
