Just to catch you up, I’ve been working hard to finish up the new website for work since Thanksgiving. I’d hoped to have it all ready to go by Dec. 22 (last day of work), but I’m still waiting on content. Nevertheless, it will launch before the semester begins in January. Because of the time I’ve been putting in at the office, I haven’t wanted to spend any time on the computer when I get home.
Christmas was great this year. My dad typically worked on Christmas when I was a kid, but since he worked on-call, we never knew when we would celebrate for sure. Since he retired this year, we could actually plan to spend Christmas Eve Day at my parents, opening gifts and enjoying dinner. We always go to my brother’s for dinner on Christmas Day. He has little kids, and we feel they should be able to stay home and play with their new toys. I spent a lot of Christmases on the road to and from my Grandmother’s house as a kid, and since we had to share our toys, I was selective in what I’d take with me. Anyway, the holidays were fun and relatively stress free.
I’m thinking about getting a new pet — a Roomba iRobot vacuum. These things are great. My parents just got one, and it goes under beds and couches. Plus it is just fun to watch. Every once in a while, it will run into problems and someone has to go rescue it. In many ways, it reminded me of a puppy. I started calling it Rover. Rather than buying one, I may just offer to pet sit for my parents on a regular basis.
Oh yeah, I finally completed the item that has been on my New Year’s Resolutions list for the past two years – I got my passport. I’m heading to a conference in Canada in February, and I’ll need one to get back into the US.
I’ve been pondering the list for 2007. I’ve decided instead of making resolutions, I’m going to view it as a list of major, specific tasks I want to accomplish in the upcoming year.
